Day Peace Campaign
Insan Foundation
is of the opinion that Peace and Child Rights are directly
concerned with each other especially in societies that are
strewn with violence, religious fundamentalism and communal
strife and which have tense relationship with their neighbors.
In Pakistan, the estimated local resources generated through
charity are 50 times more than the total inflow of the external
humanitarian assistance. But the major chunk of these resources
is spent on non-productive activities, rather on those which
destroy both peace and peace of mind. Therefore, Insan Foundation
believes that people need to be sensitized about the significance
of peace in their lives vis-à-vis the local potential
and the cost that they have to pay otherwise.
Dove Day is an advocacy campaign
undertaken by IFP for the promotion of peace. It impresses
upon the masses the need to join hands for peace and ensure
a better world for children of today and tomorrow. It is
a symbolic activity in which paper cutouts of doves are
flown with gas balloons. These cutouts bear slogans for
the promotion of peace and the address of Insan Foundation.
Any individual bringing back the cutout, when grounded,
is entitled to win as incentive a T-shirt and membership
of the campaign. The second aspect of the Dove Day Peace
Campaign is developing of peace membership
in schoolchildren.
Presently, Dove Day Campaign is
being carried out in Pakistan and Canada (Toronto). In Pakistan,
the main partners of the campaign are CBTP partners and
individuals from different walks of life. In Canada, the
campaign has been started with the collaboration of a Canadian
volunteer who is working as a teacher.
